DESMOND

Owned since 2017 Des is a yard superstar and I’ve enjoyed bringing him through the grades. We competed in the 4* at Blenheim in 2022 and were 3rd in the 4* u25 Championships at Bramham International Horse Trials in 2023 . He is a small miracle as he undertook Colic Surgery in 2020 as well as a overcoming a big heart arrhythmia at the same time, and we’re hoping a quiet 2024 will allow him to tackle Badminton 5* the following year. He lives for XC, loves all the attention he can get and definitely knows he’s learnt his title of King of the yard.

BASIL

The cheekiest boy on the yard, eager to please and brave as a lion. Sasha bought him as an unbroken 3 year old from his breeder and owners, Guy & Liz Prest and Alex Colquhoun. After breaking and producing him at her yard, Sasha qualified him for the Nexgen championships as both a 4 year old and 5 year old, winning one of the qualifiers with a maximum score for his gallop. He moves beautifully, is bold XC and shows huge talent (when he can contain his excitement!). He is the yard clown, always working hard to be the centre of attention!

JOEY

Imported from Ireland as a 4 year old in 2021 after catching Sasha’s eye, Joey has an uncanny resemblance to Desmond. He has beautiful breeding for an eventer and is a joy to ride. He is big, so she is giving him plenty of time to grow, develop and work out where his legs are meant to be, however he’s already jumping double clear at BE100 and enjoying the challenge of his first Novice courses. He loves playing with water from the hose after a wash off, and having the yard blower on his nose. He is going to be an exciting prospect and definitely one to watch.

MERLIN

Merlin is one of those special horses that can turn a fetlock to any job, from dressage to team chasing, eventing to nannying the young horses. He was originally intended for my Dad, but I borrowed him for a local event and realised what he was capable of. He’s won some impressive dressage competitions and eventing championships and even passed his Pony Club B Test, but he’s at his happiest following hounds.

SMARTY

The little legend that made it all happen. Smarty is a feisty New Zealand thoroughbred. He and Sasha quickly developed a deep bond and won the National Junior Championships before being selected to ride for Great Britain in the Junior Team in 2017 and 2018, winning a Team Silver and Individual 5th at the European Championships. He took her to 4* level and is now enjoying a happy retirement with her.

PLUM

Plum was my first pony, and after a fantastic life teaching numerous children to ride he is now back home with me to enjoy his retirement as a companion for the competition horses. He’s got a wicked sense of humour, escapes at every opportunity and loves making his occasional appearances on Instagram, and his sledging video ensured he was was the first of our horses to go viral on TikTok!
